Dating buck knives
The early production knives are very different from those made today, so this area can really be divided into sub-categories. I hope this assists you in indentifying your knife.
The 1973 to 1985 production knives bear a model number as well as the BUCK and the U.
Just E-Mailed buck asking for a copy of the dating system. Just figured i would make a screen shot of the they sent me and post it here for people interested as I couldn't find it on their website and I could have sworn they had one. I have a vintage Buck 124 and always wondered how old it was (now I know it is a 1987 model).
Now if somebody could post the different steels used by Buck on the standard production models.
